BLOOD  SWEAT  TEARS

2023 - WIP

This project dwelves in the sculpture creation process based on visual annotations from random elements of everyday life that serve as inspiration. At the same time BST addresses some issues that concern the people of Zacatecas, México, such as the violence generated by the narcos, the economy, the environment and family, and it juxtaposes these themes with design elements inspired by the landscape, loaded with mining elements.

This project consists of various mixed media sculptures, photography and video. The sculptures use different materials and technology that make them come alive like small ecosystems.

The name “Blood Sweat Tears”, or in Spanish “Sangre Sudor Lágrimas” comes from the irony of being a Mexican in this era and in this part of the country, which is one of the most affected areas by cartel violence. How much has it costed us to stay afloat and continue to be happy, despite all the setbacks and the constant withdrawal of our resources? How are we ok and happy when everything seems to be falling apart? Well we are still happy and things seem under control because it has costed us our Blood, Sweat and Tears, and that is the magic of México.
